It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
